Urge to stop KSRTC buses in rural routes

CHICKMAGALUR, KARNATAKA: The District Private Bus Owners’ Association has urged the government to take immediate measures to stop plying of KSRTC buses in the non-nationalised rural routes as it affects the revenue of private buses.

Speaking to media persons here on Friday, Association president Balakrishan Bhat stated that if the government fails to take immediate action, the association left with no option but to cancel plying of private buses completely in the district to avoid further loss to bus owners.

The plying of private buses has provided jobs for more than 3000 people. If the government failed to take suitable action in this regard, the families of the workers would be adversely affected, he said.

The association also demanded the government to reduce tax imposed on diesel at least by 50 per cent otherwise the private bus owners would be forced to hike the fares correspondingly, he said.

Association vice-president B M Krishnappa, secretary Shanmukha were present.
