Platform for young dancers

The Karnataka Nritya Kala Parishat conducted the Annual Ankura Festival last week, at the Yavanika auditorium. The parishat gave a platform to 12 upcoming dancers, who have completed their Ranga Pravesha. It is a very good scheme to promote young artistes and gauge the art scene of the current society. The festival was held in collaboration with the Directorate of the Kannada and Culture and the Department of Youth Services and Sports.

Kannika Kini, who gave a Bharathanatya recital in the Ankura festival on Tuesday, is a disciple of Parul Sastry. She opened the programme with Ananda Natanam which gave her a good start. She performed the celebrated Varna Sakhiye, convincingly. She executed the well knit varna with ease and confidence which was proof of her good training. She concluded with a Jakkini which was another attraction of her recital.
