Maxis Communications Bhd's subsidiary Aircel has appointed Jagdish Kini as group chief executive officer with effect from Nov 1, 2006.

In a statement on Oct 10, Aircel said Kini would bring with him over 30 years of professional experience, having worked in global majors such as Procter & Gamble, and Parke Davis/Warner Lambert, L’Oreal and Gillette (Middle East & Asia).

It said Kini's career achievements included the setting up of Indian operations of L’Oreal and also Airtel’s Karnataka operations.

“My primary focus is to transform Aircel from being a regional operator to a nationwide operator and further strengthen its customer-centric focus with new products and services,” Kini said.

“I believe that my prior experience in the telecom industry would help me in my new undertaking and I am excited to be part of company’s core operations,” he added.
