Why English in one subject

A concerned parent

I am writing these few lines on behalf of all the parents who were happy, to know that ENGLISH has being introduced in Std 1. But to our disappointment, it is only one subject, which is introduced, rest everything is the same in Konkani; especially about Math’s it is the same. Sir, please tell us why Math’s is in Konkani, we want to give our children good education, and as ENGLISH is the gobal language, medium of education should be in English, for the better future of our children.

People say that Konkani is our mother tongue, it is true, but with Konkani we can’t go anywhere. We can only sit in the kitchen. Why it is from Std 1 to 4 Konkani medium and from Std 5th to 10th it is in English? If you really want to save Konkani, through education then make it Konkani medium from Std 1 to Std 10. Don’t make our children confused by making English medium from Std 5th. In the Maths book of Std 1 there are notes introduced of 5,10,20,50 and 100’s rupee notes. What is the use of learning it in Konkani, if the notes are in English. You should request the R.B.I. to introduce the notes in Konkani numbers. I hope I made it clear what we wanted to tell you. If this is the same in the coming years, I think government schools will be closed down forever, cause we don’t want to make our children confused in their lives. So, Mr Education Minister, please look into this matter and take right steps in the future.
