The vice-chairman of Kala Academy, Mr Jitendra Deshprabhu, addressing a press conference, today said that the internationally revered Goan vocalist, Kishori Amonkar will be felicitated on the last day of the music festival for her immense contribution to the Hindustani classical music.
“She will also perform during the last session of the concluding day of the musical event,” he informed.
Mr Deshprabhu also said that the glimpses of the Guru-Shishya tradition will be depicted through the 3-day music festival, presented by both Gurus and Shishyas together.
The Sangeet Samaroh will open with a vocal recital by the noted Goan vocalist, Kamlakar Naik. The next event will have vocal recital by Kaushiki Chakravorty and Pt Ajoy Chakravorty, Kolkata.
The second day will commence with the vocal recital by Vasundhara Komkali and Kalapini Komkali, Devas. It will be followed by sarangi recital by the sarangi maestro, Pt Ram Narayan and Harsh Narayan, Mumbai. The last event of the day will witness sarod recital by the sarod wizard, Pt Brij Narayan, Mumbai.
The morning session of the last day will start with flute recital by the internationally acclaimed flautist, Pt Hariprasad Chaurasia and Sameer Rao, Mumbai, and followed by Bharatnatyam presentation by Sushma Kamat, Udupi.
The evening session will have felicitation function of famed Goan vocalist, Ms Kishori Amonkar. The Goan violinist, Milind Raikar will also perform during the session. The music festival will end with the vocal recital by Kishori Amonkar.
Mr Deshprabhu, speaking to the pressmen also said that Kala Academy is in the process of having an Memorandum of Understanding with the trustees of the Sawai Gandharv Smriti Sangeet Samaroh, annually held in Pune, so as to give Goan artists a chance to perform at this prestigious music festival.
The member secretary of Kala Academy, Dr Pandurang Phaldesai was also present on the occasion.
