Venkatesh Kini to join Coca-Cola as V-P

Kini, vice-president, Sprite and Flavors, Brand Business Unit, Coca-Cola, North America, has relocated to India. He will join Coca-Cola, India, as vice-president, marketing, with effect from September 1, 2006, and will be based at the division office of Coca-Cola, India, in Gurgaon. He will report to Atul Singh, president and CEO, Coca-Cola, India.

A Coca-Cola, India, spokesperson confirmed the development, but refused to divulge any more details.

Kini takes over from Vikas Gupta, who quit as V-P, Coca-Cola, India, recently to join Anand Bazaar Patrika. Kini has over 17 years of marketing, sales and general management experience. From September 2005, he has been working at Coca-Cola, North America. Kini has been instrumental in the successful launch and subsequent re-launch of Sprite. He has led the development of innovative advertising and the graphics redesign for the Sprite re-launch.

Kini joined Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages, India, as marketing operations manager in March 1998. Later on, he joined The Coca-Cola Company in India as senior brand manager for the Lemon Lime Category. Kini has a BA in Economics from Hindu College, Delhi University, and an MBA from IIM, Ahmedabad.
