The Malabar Cancer Care Society (MCCS) here has decided to initiate an ‘Integrated comprehensive rehabilitation project’ making use of various systems of medicine for patients cured of cancer.Briefing mediapersons about the new projects initiated by the MCCS, D Krishnanadha Pai, chairman of the society, said that the rehabilitation project will be launched by ISRO chairman Dr G Madhavan Nair at a function here on Monday. A message from President Dr A P J Abdul Kalam will be read out at the function.A WHO-sponsored School of Colposcopy and Training Centre and Friends for Cancer Care (FORCE) are the two other major projects to be launched on Monday. The School of Colposcopy and Training Centre of MCCS will be inaugurated by Health Minister P K Sreemathy.The Friends for Cancer Care is a novel scheme designed to assist those who seek treatment for cancer and those who are cured of the disease. FORCE has a health group, counselling group, finance group and a social activation group, said Krishnanadha Pai.The School of Colposcopy is the second such centre in the state to provide training to doctors and paramedical staff. K Sudhakaran MLA will preside over the function to be held on the premises of the MCCS at South Bazar here at 4.30 p m on Monday.
