Monster jumbo in Kingfisher net

Mumbai- Vijay Mallaya's Kingfisher airline is to go in for a super jumbo A380, making it the first private airline in the world to acquire the 555-seater aircraft within a month of its launch.

The Mallaya promoted airline is to acquire five A380's and an announcement is expected to be made on Wednesday at the Paris air show by the UB group chairman and the manufacturer where the A380 would also be on display, sources said.

The pricelist of an A380 is around USD 280 million.

The private carrier presently has two A320s and has an order for 28 more aircrafts apart from six ATRs for the regional route.

The aircraft is expected to go on commercial service next year and the delivery was scheduled for 2007 with airbus having orders for more than 120 such aircraft.
