MANGALORE: Shree Sheni Gopalkrishna Bhat Vishwastha Mandali presents ‘Sheni award’ every year. This year the award will be presented to Yakshagana ‘thenku thittu’ artiste Pakalakunja Krishna Naik on Wednesday at Suratkal Tadambail at 6 pm.
Udupi deputy commissioner T Shyam Bhat will preside over the programme and MP Manorama Madhwaraj will felicitate Naik. Suratkal MLA Krishna Palemar and Mandali honorary president Sheni Gopalkrishna Bhat will be present. At 4 pm ‘Bhishma Senadhipathya, Geetopadesha, Sudharshana’ will be held.
The award will carry a certificate, memento, tambulam, shawl and a cash prize of Rs 15,000.Pakalakumja Krishna Naik has been in the field since his school days and since then learnt the art from Alike Monu Shetty and Alike Ramaiah Rai.
His performances as Shumbasura, Shambarasura, Hidimba, Kalanemi, Mairavana, Hidimbi, Ajamukhi, Shurpanakhi etc has gained him popularity.
