Physiotherapy clinic opens door

Ashok Kini, managing director and group executive (National Banking) State Bank of India, inaugurated the physiotherapy clinic 'Maithri Sukha Varsha' run by T Nagar-based Maithri Educational and Charitable Trust at a function held on 10th Dec 2005 . Ashok Kini, after donating the physiotherapy equipment worth Rs 1.97 lakh to R Shreedhar, founder and trustee of the trust, said banks needed to contribute more for the welfare of the society.

Referring to one of the bank's staff, who has been working as a cashier in the morning and running an ambulance service during late hours, in Mumbai, he said, 'we want more individuals for the development of the society'. P Choudhary, chief general manager, SBI, Chennai Circle, in his address said the resources of the government could not be expected always and it was the responsibility of every individual to contribute to the welfare of the community.

TK Sethuraman, former financial advisor, Tamilnadu Tourism Development Corporation, who spoke on the occasion, said the clinic would be offering physiotherapy at an affordable rate and they were planning to launch a mobile clinic in future.
