5 eminent Kokanis honoured by Pai Foundation

Reserve Bank of India Deputy Governor V Leeladhar is among five eminent Konkani personalities honoured with achievement awards by Dr T M A Pai Foundation here today for their contribution to their chosen fields.The other awardees were Jet Airways India Private Limited Support Services Vice President B P Baliga, renowned Marathi stage artiste Ramdas Kamat and PVS Beedies Private Limited Director Madhusudhan D Kushe. The award was posthumously presented to Prof R K Rao.In reply to the felicitation, Mr Leeladhar said banks in the country, especially in the public sector, had played an important role in the nation's development. ''Despite prudential norms of international standard, many of our banks have been able to achieve sound financials and withstand even worst of crises.''
