Litterateurs, journalists contribute to language growth

SHIMOGA: ‘Contribution of both litterateurs and journalists is commendable for growth and progress of language,’ professed Prof D Raghunatharao.

Speaking on ‘Literature and Journalism’ at the Press Day Celebrations organsied by Shimoga District Working Journalists Association (SDWJA) in Shimoga on Saturday, he said both newspapers and literature reveal the culture and tradition prevailing in the society. But newspapers share a major responsibility in taking the ongoing events of the society to people, he opined.

“Literature and newspapers are two different fields, but both aim to depict the current events and issues debated. Literature, language and Culture together grown with journalism,” he added.

He said journalists work under time schedule where as litterateurs work leisurely. SDWJA felicitated noted Dr N L Nayak on the occasion.Replying to felicitation, Dr Nayak said “We have to channelise our energy and intelligence for the welfare of society and nation,

“Everyone should adopt regular exercise, timely food and healthy life style” he advised. President of SDWJA M Nagendrarao presided. Treasurer Chandrakant, secretary S K Gajendraswamy and others were present. C V Siddappa welcomed and Vaidya introduced the guests. Prakash proposed vote of thanks.
