Computers are gateways to new avenues: Dr Sudha Rao

SHIMOGA: ‘Mind set difference still persists among people for the use of computers in the regular affairs,’ said Vice-chancellor of Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) Dr Sudha Rao.

Inaugurating the computer centre of DVS College of Arts and Science in Shimoga on Saturday, she pointed out the indispensability of being a computer literate irrespective of the age group.

Learning has become part and parcel of the present day life style into be ona par with time and technology. She remarked that application of computer in every field had resulted in a great change.

She viewed computer as a tool, which had mitigated the laborious work of human beings and saved time and energy. Computers, by providing high connectivity has made this world as ‘tiny’ place to live in.

She said computers had opened up new and better opportunities for skilled and knowledgeable persons. This has also contributed significantly in improving economic condition of human beings.

Pointing out the advantages of computers, which has reached every doorstep in the society, she said that information on any topic could be accessed from the Internet economically.

Welcoming guests, Head of Computer Science department S K Chandrashekhar informed about the computer infrastructure in their institution. Vice-president of DVS Institution K G Subrahmanya presided. Institution Secretary R S Ashwathanarayana, College Principal Prof C S Nanjundaiah were also present. Teachers and students of the institution participated in the programme.
